My experiences occurred when I was in college from age 19-22. I am now 27 and do not remember whether or not I've had any more since then. The episodes happened when I wasn't influenced by alcohol, drugs, or stress. The first time I awoke to find myself floating, face up, approximately five feet in the air. I felt as if I wasn't actually floating, but being carried, as I didn't feel the weightlessness that would be associated with floating. There was an invisible force that actually carried me towards my bedroom door and out into the hall. My memory stops after I enter the hallway.

The experiences that followed, with the exception of one, were many and very similar. They all have the same basic similarities. I believe they occurred typically when I was lying on my back. I would be awakened by this presence which surrounded me very closely. If I attempted to turn my head or move my extremities the grip would become increasingly tighter. The harder I tried to break free, the harder the compression was. Accompanying this pressure was a sound that can be likened to the sound you hear inside your head when you yawn. The sound had the intensity of an oncoming train and it gained volume with the increased compression. My only option at this point was to allow this force to run its course.

The episodes typically lasted about five minutes and I was usually elevated above the bed only, and not moved around as in the first experience. These events followed me from one location to another, as I changed residence after my first year. The one exceptional OBE had an interesting twist-as I was returning to the bed from a "hover", I saw a black cat about the size of a large dog next to my bed. The cat was looking at my face and was very near me. It had glowing red eyes. I reached out and swatted at it (contrary to my previous inability to move) and it went away.

When I woke in the morning I recalled what had happened and noticed that I'd knocked my alarm clock off of the nightstand (the red eyes I assume were the LEDs
