Demon Dog
From: Story type: OBE Location: Nova Scotia Source: Form Submission
When my mother and her brother were young, they lived in Digby Nova Scotia. My grandmother and grandfather had about 5 or 6 hunting dogs. It was my mother and uncle's job to feed them. Every night they would go out there, and every night IT would come.
An enormous dog, almost like a doberman, but bigger. It had a bristled neck too, almost like a hyena, but it was enormous. Every night, they would go out and every night it would sit there, watching them with its red eyes, glowing like embers.
Of course my grandmother didn't believe them, but they set out to get proof. First there were the dogs, they went absolutely ballistic when it came, my grandmother blamed them for scaring "the poor things". Finally they decided to capture it.
They set up and elaborate barbed wire trap, their oldest dog had recently been caught in some, so they were going to try it on the beast.
Night came, and they waited for it's arrival, a camera and flashlight in hand. It came, and stepped into the trap. It let out a scream like a wildcat and began to thrash, catching itself in the wire and getting hopelessly caught. Finally my uncle turned on the light, trained it on the dog and let out a yell as a blue puff of smoke engulfed it and the dog vanished.
They ran inside in fear, and when they came out the next day, there was the barbed wire, bent as if an animal had been caught in it...but there was no blood, no hair...and no dog. Nothing could have possibly escaped that hopeless mess of barbs, but that dog did. And it never returned.
