Well, I'm contributing another "story". This happened in February 2001.

My husband finished our infant daughter's room, so my mom gave us a baby monitor. Anyhow one night I forgot to turn it on (it was also unplugged) and I heard a baby cry, so I went to my daughter's room to check on her but she was fast asleep! None of our neighbors have babies or small children.

Another night this happened when the monitor was on in our room but unplugged in my daughter's room. I lay down to go to sleep and awoke to voices and other noises coming from the baby monitor. So I went to check on my daughter , she was fast asleep (again). So I checked the part of the monitor in her room and it was unplugged!

I went outside to check if there was someone around but, of course, there wasn't anybody around outside.

Needless to say the baby monitor is gone!
