The Worst New Year's Party Ever

This is something that happend to me at a new years eve party (31/12/2001).

Now i am as sceptical as they come but this was something that happend to me that made me think again. The party was at a friend's house and it was going ok so me and a girl i had met decided to go up stairs into the front bedroom for a bit of err...fun, anyway it was getting near to midnight and things are heating up when all of a sudden there was a flash of light in room that illumiated the room for about a second, just long enough for me to turn around around and see a ball of light about as big as a football close to the to the ceiling of the room appear and disappear.

For a non believer this really freaked me out. I looked at the girl and all she said was a told you that the house was haunted.

That wasn't the only weird thing, at the exact time of this happening a friend of mine knocked on the door 3 times to get us down stairs for the countdown, he and someone who was leaving the bathroom also saw the flash of light from under the door.

I tried to put it down to a firework but the curtains were closed.

That was the last time i have been in that room and have no intention of going in there again. i have no idea what i saw and any explaination would be appreciated.
