The Girl Who Never Quit

From:
Story type: Ghost
Location: Softball Fields
Source: Form Submission

*Note* The "Indian Run" is where everyone lines up, and runs around the field throwing the ball behind them and the girl behind is supposed to catch the ball... The last girl is supposed to bring it to the front and be the leader... Usually it's doe for a mile ( four laps around the field)

I play softball, and I'm often on tournament teams... I never knew the story this girl is about but I have seen her a few times.( THere where two tournament teams... One A one B... ). Well, people made fun of her because when they would do this special run called the indian run she would always fall behind.. ( They said it was because she was over weight...) So, she did everything in the world to get thinner and faster.. She would starve herself for days and run mile after mile.

One day she complained to her mother that she was way to tired to go to practice. But since it cost 500 dollars to play her Mother refused to let her stay home. ( She was very weak, mind you ). She made it through practice with much struggle. When practice was almost over they had to do the indian run.. She was the the end. She was trying her best to keep up but when she got the ball and tried to bring it up front she collapsed, and died from exhaustion. She was buried in her All Star uniform.

To this day, every time the B team (which I am on now) is practicing on the field directly across, which is where she died she can be seen doing the Indian Run, in her all star uniform.

I ddnt know about her when I first saw her, I thought she was a new addition to the team, since we were short one player and the coach said he found someone, so I climbed over the fence and walked up to her.. I told her were practicing on the other field and asked her if she needed a partner to warm up with. She told me "No, I've got to finish my run".

I shrugged and climbed over the fence again and walked to a baffled team mate. She asked me who I was talking to, and I told her the girl who was doing the Indian run. She told me there was no one there.. I was scared as hell.

Later that night I pulled some of my friends off their butts and into the field where I saw her. I took my Ouija board and tried to contact her. It worked, I asked her if she was the girl in the field earlier today, she said yes and my friends were freaked out, so was I. She said she was ready to warm up... and a ball from the bucket of balls regularly kept there was easily tossed at me... I caught it and tossed it back and it stopped in mid air.. I think she "caught it".

Once in awhile at League camp outs while every one is asleep and the chaperones go to sleep I would take out my Ouija board and ask her to warm up and I'd literally play catch with her ghost. Never saw her but once someone woke up and saw me throw the ball and she disappeared... My friends sometimes contact her with me.
