The Haunting That Almost Was

Ok, well I don't know for sure if it was a ghost but this experience seems too real to have it just be my wild imagination. This all happened last June when my family moved from Texas to here (kentucky), we didn't have a place to stay so we were staying with my grandma but we look constantly for about a month for a place to rent.
We finally found one that seemed like a dream house to me. Being from a not so rich family i've never lived in a house that had more that 4 bedrooms and stairs. Well this house had 7 bedrooms and stairs, I was in love. Also the rent was only 475 a month! It was too good to be true. The real estate lady said the house was built in the 1940's.
My much older sister came with us on the move but was just staying for the summer and then going back to Texas. Well as soon as we pulled in the drive-way she was spooked and refused to go into the house. So me, my mom and dad all went to look around, sure the house was old but it was still dreamy. There was also a medium sized basement that I went down to check out. As soon as I reached the floor to the basement the basement door shut, well since I hadn't told anyone I figured one of my parents shut it without seeing me so I thought nothing of it at the time. I checked the basement out and it seemed pretty normal, on my way up the stairs, I heard laughter like children laughing. I also thought nothing of it because we were in a neighborhood and children could of been out but when we got outside the house. I didn't see any but I still thought nothing of it.
So we left the house and I was for sure we were going to rent it, but that night I had a horrible nightmare about that house, and I mean bad and I almost never ever have bad dreams. There was a man in my dream who was talking and the only thing I strongly remember him saying is "Don't come back", and there was blood everywhere in my dream house. I woke up at about 3 from that dream and I didn't go back to bed, I even turned every light I could on.
Of course I told my parents I didn't want to live in it after that and they didn't really question it and my sister was very relieved.
I am always interested in people's ghost stories so if you have a personal one e-mail me anytime.
