The Friend that Became a Soldier; the Soldier that Became a Ghost

In the March of this year, i lost my best friend to a horrible suicide. He had been in the army and him and i were as close as friends come. His death was unexpected and shook me up badly having lost the dearest person i knew. being only 16 myself, this has been the most horrific loss in my life.

As it turns out, i chat out a bit on the net, and under some circumstances, i have met some of my chat friends in person. in the August of last year, i was randomed by a guy of whom i didnt get on much with. we spent most of our time insulting each other, so God only knows why i kept him on my list, but he was good company when he wasnt being an idiot.

Anyway about a week before i lost my best friend, i met Steve in person and strangely enough we've been almost inseparable ever since. Anyway, a week later, i lost my friend and Steve was the most supportive guy. he lives over 2 hours by public transport away from me and one night i was having a really bad night and not coping with the loss of my friend and he caught public transport out here at 1 in the morning to support me. when he arrived we went for a walk down to my cave, where my deceased friend and i spent many carefree hours together before he left for recruitment. Sitting there pretty much silently sobbing all over Steve's shirt and then Steve whispered "I promise i will".

It wasnt until a few days later when i was thinking about it that it came to mind. I asked him about it. He didnt know Roman (the deceased) at all and nothing about our relationship. Steve told me that he had seen a guy sitting in the branch of a tree that's opposite this cave who was tall, brown haired and brown eyes. This immediately shook me up since that was where Roman always sat and the description of him was a spot on match. Steve went on to tell me he had heard this apparition speak and say "Please look after my Katy for me." and so he had replied. this further confirmed so much for me because Roman had said it to my boyfriend before he had left.

Steve knew nothing about the whole incident, so he couldnt have made it up. He also couldnt have known that much about Roman to have got it that exact. today, this experience doesnt frighten me, but makes me happy knowing Roman is watching over me.

To this day Steve and i wonder why we met. we didnt get on well, and when we met in person there was an instant connection and then this. it was all good. We both believe that we were destined to meet because Steve came into my life right when i needed someone like him.
