More Hauntings from Mass... not all ghosts are bad!
From: Mel G. (Meldog1973@aol.com) Story type: Ghost Location: my home Source: Form Submission
Hello again. Awhile back I wrote about some re-curring nightmares I was having. My opinion is that it was a ghost, or some other being. Thanks for all of the emails on how to deal with this troublemaker. He seems to be gone. I think the "others" may have driven him away, because I continue to encounter strange things in my house on a regular basis.
I live in my grandparents old apartment in a two family house. Once in awhile I am able to smell Papa's pipe, or Grammy's powder. There is a lot of panelling in my house so people try to tell me "the wood absorbs oders." They have both been dead almost 10 years now. My grandmother went into a nursing home about 7 years ago and the whole apartment was painted, rugs pulled up, etc... The location of the smells are not always near a panneled wall, either. I can often smell his pipe in the kitchen, or her powder in the cellar stairway. I really love to smell them because I know they are with me - it always makes me smile and I make sure to say Hi.
Lately, I have been experiencing many odd things and I don't know if it is my Grandparents or not... these are mischievous occurences that so many ghosts are famous for. The most notable are turning on and off my radio and computer monitor. I turned off my monitor last night and walked away, and suddenly, I heard it click back on. I turned and lo-and-behold, there it was, ON! I shut it off and politely asked them to stop because I was going to bed (feels silly sometimes, talking to myself, but it seems to work). We sometimes have wars over the radio because I'll shut it off, and they will turn it back on, and we'll do this two or three times. It's kinda funny, and I know whoever is doing it is laughing at me the whole time.
The TV is another point of contention between the ghosts and myself. We have an old TV that you have to get up and change the channel (no remote!!). We are not big TV-watchers, too many better things to do I guess... but when I AM into a program, without a doubt, the channel will change. I get up and change it back, and it changes again. My highest count of this happening "in a row" was 12. I was good and mad by that point and I just shut the damn thing off!!
Other things happen too, but they are not as obvious. I'll go into a room and think I have shut the light off, but when I go back there again, it's on. I thought I was just absent minded, but this happens much to often to be "just me." Just last night it was the bedroom and dining room lights. A window was also open, and I think that might have been my own forgetfulness, thinking I had closed it, but I never rule anything out in my Ghostly Fun House.
I'll keep an eye on my cats and let you know how they react.
Until Next Time,
Meldog
