"I'm Awake, I'm Awake"

At about midnight on New Year's eve/day, 2001/2002, My mother and I were having a party to celebrate the new year. Some of my friends who were there (their names not mentioned) were joking around in the basement saying they felt something on their leg and neck in the basement when it started. We all were laughing and joking untill we heard a loud bang on the basement door that leads to the road, but there is another door that is right before that. We opened it to see who or what was there and we saw nothing. Then we got a little bit spooked and went upstairs to my room. We then heard walking in the attic so we went to check it out. There was nothing there. When we came back down, I saw that my toy that replays the last thing you said into it was in the middle of my bed. I know i hadn't put that there for a fact because: 1. I had just made my bed that morning to make it look nice for the party, and 2. I hadn't used it in years, but, for some reason, I had kept it. It caught my attention right away. I picked it up and pressed "Play." It said "I'm awake, I'm awake," similar to how a toddler would say it. Right away we went on the internet to try to find a way to deal with it. Soon after I got on everybody left and I heard those same words "I'm awake, I'm awake" so i looked for the toy but it was no longer where i placed it. Next to where it was, i saw a dark, grey, shadowy figure. Needless to say, I don't go in the basement or the attic much more at all.
