Grandma's Visit

My Grandfather just passed away and I was reminded of my grandmother's death fourteen years ago. I was five and the only grandchild at the time. After the funeral we returned home, and I was standing at the back window on the first floor in the room which would later become my bedroom when the family expanded. I don't remember why I was looking, but my grandma suddenly appeared and walked across the yard and my mother's flower garden and
disappeared around the corner of the house. When I told my mother she seemed very shaken and I thought she thought I was lying. Soon after my brother was
conceived after much difficulty, and she would later tell me she had asked her mother to come see her. She related she woke one night and the room was
absolutely filled with the particles you see in a very dark room, she said "ok, that's
enough" and they all disappeared, and she knew it was her mother. My brother was born nine months to the day of my grandmother's death. I've always found it touching that my grandmother came all the way from Virginia to Massachusetts to say goodbye one last time, and perhaps to bestow a gift.
