The Things at the Foot of the Bed

This occurred in the early '80s. I was dating a guy named Paul. We stopped by his house on the way out somewhere one day, and he said there was something strange about the house that he wanted me to see. We went around to each room, and every clock had a different time. He set the clocks to the same time, and we went out. When we came back a few hours later, the clocks were all different again, some by hours.

I didn't know it then, but evidently ghosts like to play with clocks.

Later on in the relationship, I was spending the evening at his house, and I got tired. He was really into some movie, so I went to the bedroom to lie down. A few minutes later, I heard him at the door. I said something, and turned to look, but he wasn't there. This happened several times, but he never left the living room.

Finally, he came to bed. We fell asleep. All of the sudden, I woke up. At the foot of the bed were several white figures. They were vaguely human shape, but they had no real substance. They just stood there. I tried to wake Paul up, I told him there were ghosts. He kept saying, half asleep, that it was the neighbors making noise (he lived in a duplex). I gave up and sat up to get a better look. As I did, there was an electric zap, and they were gone.

In the morning I told Paul the story and he said "Oh, those, I thought they were gone." I don't know if he was pulling my leg, but I do know what I saw, AND IT WASN'T MY TOES!
