This happened to me while I was living in Hawaii a few years back. We lived in some very old Navy Housing Area right outside of the Pearl Harbor Naval Base.

Anyhow, I used to let my dog in my room before I would go to sleep at night and she would sleep right next to my bed. So one night, I did my nightly ritual of turning off the lights and jumping into my bed.

While I was lying in my bed, I reached my hand out to acknowledge my dog. I extended my hand with my palms open, and said "Come here Missy, come up on the bed." and I patted the foot of my bed, so that she knew it was okay for her to jump up. She licked my hand but didn't get up on the bed. So then I turned on the lights, just to kind of get a glimpse of her, and when I did, I saw absolutely nothing. No Dog, nothing. Missy wasn't even in my room. I ran downstairs and started calling for her, and trying to kind of rationalize what just happened.

To sum it up, my mother informed me that Missy had been outside the whole time, and there was no possible way she could have been in my room.

I don't think it's a scary story. Well maybe. I get chills thinking about what could have licked my hand. AHHHHHHHH! Till the day we left Hawaii, I NEVER EVER slept with the lights off!
