My mother used to be a nurse at a nursing home called River Front Terrace, in Paducah KY. She told me a story about that place that I will never forget.
One night she came home about 3am, because she worked the graveyard shift. She was pretty upset about something and she didn't look like herself. Awoke by her commotion in the kitchen making coffee I asked her what had happened. That is when she told me about the incident at the nursing home.
She told me that night the guards locked the elevators at the nursing home so no one could get in the basement as usual routine. The basement was only accessible through the elevator. The only thing down in the basement was washers, dryers, and mechanic's tools and equipment. About 1am the elevator started trying to drop to the basement level, the only way to get the elevator activated again was to push the basement elevator button. Assuming that someone was down there the guards called the police. When the police arrived a squad unlocked the elevator, got on and went down to the basement. When they finally came back up the policemen looked puzzled. When asked what they found they told of no one down there. One thing they said was strange. There were bare muddy foot prints from the elevator door to a solid concrete wall. They searched the entire basement but found no one....
Up until this day my mother has never mentioned anything
about this incident. That is just one of my mother's
strange experiences.
