when i was 4, my family moved into a brand new house. it was never lived in before us, and to my knowledge, is on no "unusual" site.

from the time we moved in, i always felt a presence. i repeatedly would be in my bedroom and leave crying, asking my mom if ghosts were real. she would assure me that no, they were not. since then i"ve learned differently.

at times i would hear an unexplained noise. after searching i could not find a source, or even a direction from which it came. when i was old enough for my parents to let me stay home alone, i had to keep my Labrador Retriever inside with me. not for company, but for a feeling of protection. the presence increased every time i went to my parent"s room, especially their bathroom. there were times even before i left for college that i felt something was after me when i walked out of there and that i was narrowly escaping. a few times i would hear my mother calling me, and i would go to her only to find out she hadn"t spoken at all. i would see things out of my peripheral vision often. by the time i was in high school, i knew there was something strange in that house.

before continuing, i would like to give some family info. my grandmother on my mom"s side is psychic -- she has seen numerous ghosts and has ESP. her ability to try to control her power has led her to be slightly unstable. my mother and i both have limited ESP, as does my brother and three of my mother"s siblings.

i left home for college in the fall of "92 and was not back for any period of time until the summer of "94. during this time my brother asked me if i had ever noticed any unusual goings-on at the house. he said that he had always been afraid to mention it to me because i wouldn"t believe him. i guess that since he was almost 13 when he told me this he thought he might be more believable. since he was a baby, he has seen NUMEROUS ghosts walking our house. he recounted one time where it was a virtual parade. but the one that constantly recurred was an old man walking his dog. he was born in that house and has seen strange happenings for as long as he can remember, even before he could crawl. One night a friend of his who he had grown up with slept over. (this happened right before that summer) they were left alone until about 4am and told me the story of that night. basically, they both kept hearing noises at first, but paid no attention. as the night progressed, lights were turned on and off, faucets were turned on, and things were in general uproar. since then, the friend has not slept over for fear of reoccurence.

my parents had divorced years before and my mom moved an hour away. when i told her of my brother"s experiences, she became white. she then told me of the presence she always felt there and described a disembodied face she saw in her bedroom on numerous occasions.

my father is getting remarried and he and his new wife are building a house in another city. i am curious to know whether the happenings will follow to the new house, or if the new buyers of my childhood home will be the unfortunate focus of whatever dwells there with them.

i have had experiences in other places which i may write about at a later time, but these still puzzle me. i do not know what drew them there or if they laid claim to the house before my parents. i only hope for my brother"s sake they do not follow him....
