Laughing Bush
From: John Mc Connon (dallasp@indigo.ie) Story type: Ghost Location: Ireland Source: Form Submission
One summer me and three of my friends went to a place which many of us referred to as the Quarry. One day when we where there talking and having a laugh we heard laughing. We looked up at the top of a small hill to see a bush moving. The laughter seemed to be coming from the bush. It was the only bush there and there was just fields and fields around it. So if anyone was playing a joke we would have seen them either coming or going. Well anyway. We ran up as soon as we heard it. We each went up different ways to see. But there was no-one and nothing there. Then we heard a bang on the gate that is at the entrance to the Quarry like a stone was thrown at it. The gate was next to an old shed. I ran into the shed to see if anyone was there while my friends checked the road to see if anyone was running away. There was no sign of anyone or anything near the Quarry or road. A little while later I went home for my tea, while my friends stayed there playing.
When I was finished I went back down to the Quarry and they were still there. I hopped over the gate and went over to where they were sitting. One of my frinds said that as soon as I came near the Quarry they seen a black figure sitting on a branch on one of the trees across the road. The trees were pretty high up and there was no way to climb up there. They pointed to the branch. I saw the black figure on it and walked over to the wall to get a better view. It stayed there not moving at all. I could feel it staring at me. I walked to the left and the figures gaze followed. It didn't take my friends much time to figure out that whenever I was there odd things would happen. After a while they stopped calling.
From then on things have gotten worse.
