I wish to relate a very special story to you that I love to tell. This is totally true.

I had a grandmother who I never knew. She died very young (42) but she always was so special to me. Her name was Nina the same as mine so I always felt a connection. She was a very unusual person. Raised in rural Sicily, she was sent to a French Family in Tunisia and was educated. She and was schooled and spoke French, Italian, English and Arabic fluently.

I had always wanted something that was hers. I wanted to some connection and it was a life long thing. I would "talk" to her.. but was sorry that she could not respond

One night, I had this dream that was so vivid I thought I was awake. It was that I went to the mailbox and got a letter. The handwriting was beautiful and it was addressed to me. It said.."You are my wonderful child and You may not think I know you. But, I do, I am proud of you and love you and I am with you always. You will receive something of mine but, you will have to wait for it." It was signed Nina.

I had never seen my grandmother handwriting so I asked my father if he had anything.

This was not the kind of handwriting I had seen in my other relatives from the old country. Crude and jagged. He handed me this letter. It was torn and maybe 60 years old. But, the writing was exactly as my dream had shown. Beautiful and round. My father said it was the only writing he had seen that was so precise and beautiful I was amazed. He then went on to tell me he had a ring. His wedding ring. Was actually his mothers ring and he planned on giving it to me someday. It was the " thing" she talked about.

To this day I feel like I met my grandma. I feel her with me always and I still talk to her. I am sure she came to visit and I feel blessed and special.
