Ghost in the Room

I moved into my house about a year ago. It looks like any other house. But it's not.

First I must say that at this very moment it's freezing here and the air conditioning is turned off. There is not a window opened in the house at all. It started last New Years Eve as I was taking a shower in the basement. It had been a few minutes when I started to smell something putrid, like rotting flesh. It wouldn't wash away. The smell was so strong that I couldn't stand it anymore.

Just recently, I was having trouble sleeping. It was about 3 AM when I heard the TV in the next room blast it's volume to the max. I thought maybe my roommate couldn't sleep. So I decided to join her. As I approached the room the volume lowered. I knocked on the door and the TV turned off. I opened the door and gasped. NO ONE WAS THERE! I suddenly remembered that my roommate was visiting her parents.

So I freaked out and ran back to my room. I heard the door slam and the TV turn back on. I awoke about an hour later to find my dog barking at the door to my room. Just a moment later the door creaked open. A second later it slammed shut. When my roommate came back I told her about it. I was surprised to know she actually believed me. She told me that one time she was taking a hot bath in the upstairs tub. The door opened and immediately the bath water turned freezing cold.

We have no idea what to do. We need help.
