I've always been fascinated with the supernatural. Even as a kid, I would read books by Hans Holzer and other writers. When I was about 14, my mom finally broke down and brought out her Ouija board after I asked about it one to many times. It was not a very convincing ritual. The spirit, famous for not spelling very good, was not spelling anything readable.
It wasn't long before I recruited friends and relatives to try the magical board. I had a variable success. We would ask anything or challenge it to show itself. It wasn't long before I was on the border of inviting something very evil into my home.
One instance was one night when I was home alone. My mother was due back from her bartending job soon. I had a basement bedroom. I don't remember much prior to me actually going to bed. My bedroom was an enclosed room and from my bed you can view a small family room and the stairs leading to upstairs.
I went to sleep, but here's the irony. I must've been either half-asleep or set a speed record for entering the dream state, because I was dreaming that I was awake. Very vivid and real. In my dream, I was sitting up in bed looking around my room in the dark totally clueless of being asleep. Then it happened. It sounded like an extremely heavy person just raced down the stairs. I turned my head to see what happened and extreme horror overcame me. It was like knowing something was there but not being able to see it. Whatever it was, it stood on the basement landing staring at me. The only thing I can think of to describe it is a demon. A very menacing entity.
I woke up in total fear screaming. It was even more scary was waking up thinking I was already awake asking myself if it actually happened. I huddled under my covers until I heard my mom entire upstairs and I ran upstairs to meet her.
I slept upstairs on the couch for a long time
and eventually switched bedrooms with my mother. More
happened over time until I gave up using ouiji board.
I know believe that it is possible to invite spirits into
your home. It is like opening a door. The trick is never
to open the door in the first place.
