Around July 3rd 1985 I was with my husband Jay, his cousin Bekka and her husband Bob. We were at their apartment on the north side of Columbus, OH. We were having a Fourth of July get-together. We were eating, drinking beer, and listening to music on the patio. Jay went to use the restroom. He seemed to be taking a long time so I went to the door and asked him if he was okay. I got no answer, so I called to him again, this time knocking hard and loud. Still, I got no answer. I opened the door to find him standing very pale and sweaty in front of the mirror. I thought he was nauseous, so I asked him if he felt like he was going to get sick. He just starred on as if he did not hear me.

Next, I touched his arm and he snapped to attention with a look of bewilderment and a loud sad sigh. I asked him if he was okay, but he only replied with: "man"! Then he walked past me with an eerie look of fright on his face. I asked him yet another time if he was alright. However, he only glanced at me with a look that told me to give him a minute, and his expression quickly turned back to fear and perplexity. He walked into the living room and sat white knuckling the arms of the chair. I sat a few minutes watching him. He remained silent yet his tense body screamed of immobilizing terror. I watched the tension slowly ease out of his body, the sweat leave his face, and his color return to his now clammy face.

Not until his rapid breathing returned to normal, did he finally tell me the vision he had in the bathroom. He had envisioned Bob in the bathroom shooting himself. Jay told me that Bob used one of the guns in his collection. I knew that this bothered him, but by now Bekka and Bob were calling us, expecting us to join them. Jay was having a hard enough time explaining this vision to me and did not want to say anything to the others. Therefore, we finished our drinks and left immediately after. Later when we discussed the vision we chalked it up as nothing. Although we both had the strange feeling that it was something.

A little over a month later, I got a phone call saying that Bob had shot and killed himself. The suicide occurred in the very bathroom that Jay's premonition was in, with the same gun Jay had seen.

The names of this true story have been changed because Jay nor I have revealed to any other family of his premonition. Both of us still carry some guilt for not having said anything. However, we can only ease the idea that we should have said something by knowing that we truly did not know the vision was a premonition.
