My Highway Angel

A few years ago I was making my usually morning drive to downtown Toronto. On this morning, however, something happened that still puzzles me. I can honestly say that before this incident I did not believe in guardian angels, but now....well I'm not so sure.

On this particular morning I was driving in the fast lane, doing approx 140km an hour (I think that's about 80 mph) All of a sudden the traffic came to an almost dead stop. I slammed on my breaks and when I realized that I was going to be able to stop my first reaction was to look in my rear view mirror. I could see a car barrelling down behind me. At the speed he was going and the distance he was behind me, I knew there was absolutely no chance that he would be able to stop in time. I braced myself for the impact and closed my eyes for a split second. The impact I was waiting for never came. In fact the car that was coming at me was nowhere is sight. Based on the last glimpse I had of the car before closing my eyes, the only way it could have ended up in front of me was if it went right through me! But it wasn't in front of me, or behind me, or on either side of me. There had not even been a squeeling of tires.

I truly believe that there was a higher power at work on this particular day who decided it was not my turn to leave this existance. This incident truly made me believe that I have a guardian angel.
