The Disappearing Stranger

One evening while my friend Ann was assisting with a school function, an elderly woman whom she didn't know, walked up to her with a smile. She told Ann that just the evening before, she had seen an angel. Ann is a member of our angel group, but had no idea why this woman was sharing her story with her.

The old woman had been shopping in a large discount store and was leaving to go to her car. as she walked up to her car, a very large threatening lady came up right next to her. She told the elderly woman to give her money. Of course, the elderly woman was terrified. She didn't know what to do, and explained, "How much do you want?" The threatening woman told her to give her everything, and glared at her harshly.

At this point, the elderly woman was feeling very protective of her belongings and was about to say NO!. Out of the blue, a very tall, well built man appeared at the scene. He looked menacingly at the large woman and said, "Leave,Go away, Don't ever bother this woman again!" The cruel woman looked shocked and fearful and began walking as fast as she could from the stranger.

The old woman watched as the frightened lady scurried away. When she turned back around to thank the stranger, he was no where to be seen. She scoured the parking lot, looking for him, but there were cars or people around.... he simply wasn't there. She paused, feeling shaky and relieved, but a little bewildered about the stranger. Who was he and where did he come from? Where was he now? Why, he must have been an angel, her guardian angel, come to help her when she needed him most. Thank the Lord for His messenger's intervention when her life was in danger. As she ended the story, Ann was almost speechless. She escorted the elderly woman to a seat for the occassion, and mused on the "coincidence" of this women telling HER about this incident. It is wonderful to experience the workings of God in other people's lives, knowing that everything happens for a reason. And knowing that sharing that experience will change other people's lives also, is very rewarding.
