Just one of the countless times I should have hurt myself or even died, is an occasion when I was on my motor bike, and going much too fast (as was usually the case).

 Suddenly I found myself braking as hard as I possibly could, tires almost locked up, and only my experience helped me keep control. I had no idea why, until a car came out of a concealed side street at high speed, through a stop sign and passed across the front of my bike. I missed it by an inch, or less. 

There is no way I could have seen, heard, or in any way known of the impending doom. No voices in my head or anything. It just happened. And it saved my neck. I have had a few experiences like this. 

Makes me wonder...
