Hope you have read Parts I and II so this makes sense.

The appendectomy went well, considering I had gained 26 pounds with the pregnancy up to my 7th month and went home a week later six pounds lighter and still 7 months pregnant. The stay was short though. The seventh day home, and having been in continuous light labor since before the appendectomy, the contractions kicked into high gear about two hours after my husband had left for work and in the middle of one of the worst blizzards of the year. Power was out, phone lines were down, and the snowplows were having a terrible time getting out to get started. After an hour or so, I had come to the conclusion that I was going to have this baby alone on the living room floor as I was fading in and out of consciousness. About that time my husband came through the front door with a police escort following close behind. I was in shock at his appearance. It was explained to me later that shortly after he had arrived at work (he was a lineman for the phone company with his hands full that day) his supervisor ha

as wheeled into the delivery room. The baby's fetal heart tones had been completely lost 2 hours before. To have done a cesarean delivery would have surely killed me in my condition. My dear friend was the assist nurse and an anesthetist was called. My doctor's thinking was if the pain caused me to rally from the coma, he did not want me to see my dead baby. Well as she (my daughter) cleared the chute and obviously very dead - I went into full cardiac arrest. They timed the arrest at 6 minutes and 22 seconds. My trip through the tunnel f light is yet another story except for what I discovered at the other end. There standing in a full bright white light with outstretched hand was my PapPaw. As I floated toward him and reaching for his hand, he with drew it and said, "Go back Star, your daughter needs you". My next sensation was that of a bumpy fast ride, on a gurney, down a hospital corridor, on my way to Intensive Care. I don't mean to keep you in suspense but my fingers have given out. More
