Out of body experiences (OOBE)
An out of body experience may also be referred to as astral projection or astral travel. Abbreviated names for out of body experiences are OOBE and OBE.
Some people can self-induce an out of body experience by using visualization and meditation techniques. Other out of body experiences happen involuntarily, often to the amazement of the experiencer. Many people report a sensation of floating near the ceiling or flying, and the ability to see their physical body below them. Out of body experiences are unlike dreams in that they feel very real, happening in the here and now physical world. Experiencers report they remember the event clearly and vividly even years afterwards.
Out of body experiences are distinguished from near death experiences by one important feature. Although a near death experience may have an out of body component, such as looking down on your body before continuing on, an out of body experience does not include the belief or fact of being clinically dead before returning to the body.

Out of Body Experience in Front of an Audience
I took part as a solo harpist in a concert in our local church. I do a lot of concerts - and I play my own arrangements of music. These are variations of existing pieces of music, so they're not free improvisations but rather I tend to modify some of the harmonies or playing styles as I go, depending on how the audience responds.
Normally as I do a lot of musical performance either as a soloist or as part of a group, public performance is no big deal, and most of them are more or less forgotten - they're just a job, really. However, on this particular occasion while I was playing one piece, something happened that's etched so clearly in my mind that I can recall it vividly now, about 5 years after it happened.
OBE Twice?
I became very interested in this since Ive always wondered what happened to me!
I believe I have had two Out of body experiences..
The first is when I was 6 years old, I am now 32.
I was having surgery on a broken ankle. While in the middle of surgery I remember first, hearing the doctors talking, then opening my eyes, sitting up, and seeing them working on my ankle!
Witnessed a Friend's OBE
I have had other experiences with sightings but not like this one, Usually in the times I have experienced these things, I am wide awake. Things may happen in broad day light or at night.
Out of my experiences, one that I truly cannot explain is when I went to visit a friend. They had a habit of leaving the door unlocked because my friend lived in the country. Still I couldn't understand that, because I'm an avid door locker. I have a thing with making sure doors and windows are secure. I have always had a feeling the living have far more dangerous potential than many of the unexplained things.
Several More Experiences
I thought that was the end of my experiences, but looking at the dreams section, I have remembered some more I want to share with you. I have always had very vivid dreams, some, not necessarily all coming true, but all seem to have symbolic importance in the coming days, weeks, or even sometimes years. I more often than not have dj vu experiences even if I havent ever a) done this before b) seen places or people before or c) really ever thought about these things when I am conscious. I havent really wanted to tell people about them as most people I worry that people will think I am quite mad.
