Near death experiences (NDE)
These true stories are actual personal experiences of the authors and include near death and experiences of almost dying.
Near death experiences are remarkable in the fact that even though the stories are unique, they share many common elements: seeing a light at the end of a tunnel and moving swiftly towards it, being outside the physical body and looking down on it, having overwhelming feeling of peace and love, feeling disappointment about having to return, seeing their life "pass before their eyes." This is not an exhaustive list, but some of the more popular elements experienced.
Occurrences typically happen in conjunction with a life-threatening situation. Examples of these would be surgical procedures, accidents, injuries, suicide attempts or severe illness. Any traumatic event where death seems imminent or expected can trigger an NDE although it is possible to have one and not be near death.

Hospital Procedure
February 2009, I was attending hospital for a simple day procedure operation. I felt calm and relaxed and was waiting to be called into the operating theatre. The nurse came for me and led me to the theatre and I lay down on the operating table where the nurses got me prepared for the procedure. I still felt relaxed and was thinking about getting this over with and returning home to my wife and daughters. The surgeon again explained the procedure, that he would be giving me a local anaesthetic which consisted of 3 injections of which I would feel a scratch with the first and not much thereafter.
Near Death Experience of a Harmonica Player
She ran to the phone but couldn't remember the alarm number, which had been changed a few weeks earlier. She phoned my daughter in law, who by the way is hardly ever home, but she answered immediately this time. She phoned for an ambulance, which came very quickly. I can still hear the medic say, "I know what it is" and immediately got in touch with the hospital. They threw me, like a bag of potatoes, on the berry and chased down the pathway; which gave me such a lot of pain that the whole neighbourhood could hear my screams.
NDE
I stared to panic. I was really scared. I remember trying to breath but I couldn't, water was going in instead. There was no more oxygen. I remember moving my arms and legs frantically trying to save my life. I remember my body hitting things under water. I don't know what I was hitting me but it was painful. That day the river was moving fast from west to east towards the ocean. I don't know how much time went by but I couldn't move any more.
Mud Thing
Ever notice how time slows down, for the participant only, while in the midst of an accident? Although the accident is most assuredly taking place in real time, you are able to see every aspect of the accident as it occurs in half speed yet, still you are unable to prevent it or even soften it blow.
