She Refused To Leave

A long time ago, my grandfather lived in this duplex. The owner decided to sell the duplex and the property, so my grandfather bought it, since he was marrying my grandmother and they both had children from previous marriages and needed the room. Now, there was a woman living in the upstairs section at this time. We'll call her Ms. Taylor. She was told that she had to move and was given a well-advanced notification. However, she was not pleased about this and swore that they could make her physically leave, but she would remain there spiritually after all of her days. My grandparents dismissed her protests and threats, knowing that she was upset about the transaction. Not long after moving out, the woman passed away.
My aunts, uncles, and mother would tell of many stories of seeing Ms. Taylor in the upstairs bedrooms, usually brushing her hair in front of the mirror, and on one occasion, crawling into bed with my uncle (this was her room previously). As a child, I was always afraid of this house, but only the upstairs. I wouldn't ever go up there alone, and never at night. I slept on the couch when I stayed over. Some of it was because of the stories I had heard growing up, but also because the feeling I would get when I was up there. It was just complete terrror.
Anyway, there are a lot of happenings that have occured in that house, but a few stick out in mind. I believe from my personal experiences in that house that there are more than one spirit there, and at least one of them is evil. It is not Ms. Taylor. She is what I think of as a poltergeist:moving objects, scraping furniture across the floor, opening and shutting doors and windows, and sometimes appearing to people. The evil entity is a man. He walks up the stairs, he has physically assaulted my mother and her sister on two seperate occasions, which they describe as him sitting on their chest and trying to choke them. They both managed to flee the room, only to find that they were covered in bruises from the struggle and had handprints around their neck. This spirit has locked me in a room and whispered my name very softly, and even pushed me down the stairs when I was pregnant with my first child.
My grandmother and grandfather have passed away now. My aunt moved into the house and has been doing a great many renovations on it. Quite a few times after moving the new furniture or putting in new wallpaper or carpet, they would come in the next morning to find it torn down or the furniture back in the position it was in before the renovations. My aunt is a Christian and finally had enough of this. She told the spirits that if they plan to remain in HER house that they will leave things alone and let her fix up the place or they can find a new place to haunt. Otherwise, everyone could co-exist in harmony. Since then, there have been very few occurances, none major. I still feel the evil spirit, but he seems to be sitting back in the shadows now, perhaps biding his time. Then again, maybe my grandparents are also a part of the house now and they are keeping him from havocking much evil.
