One Last Favor in the Air

This *could* be complete coincidence, but given my history, I believe it is something more. I'd like to share with you what happened on My Summer Vacation.

I was taking a trip to Las Vegas this past summer. Like many people are now, I am petrified to fly because of what happened on 9/11, but to get to Vegas, I was willing to chance it! I lost a friend on one of the flights 9/11, and I often talk with him and I think he may be one behind the "channel changing" in my house.

The Friday before we left (we flew out on Sunday from Boston), I said to him "Hey, would you do me a favor and come with me? I'm SO scared to fly, and if you were there, it would help me A LOT." I went on to say that I knew he had other places to be, but if he could do this for me, I would GREATLY appreciate it. I swear, I said it just the way I wrote it here, which makes what happened really strange...

That Sunday, we got to the airport. The plane was full except for five seats - FIVE. And the seat next to me was vacant. Many people would call this coincidence, and so I would have too, if I hadn't made that one request of my friend.

Until this point, I had kept my little conversation to myself, but I was amazed and told my fiance, who was on my other side, at the window seat (NO THANK YOU!!). All he said to me: "Great! Put my carry-on on that seat." I wouldn't let him because I told him it was taken. It really helped to have the empty seat, whether it was him or not. I looked over every once in awhile and I smiled. We stopped in Chicago and switched planes and I said to him in the airport, "I think I'll be okay from here." And the seat next to me was taken on the next flight to Vegas.

Think what you will, but I know what I see at home on a regular basis (although, since the new cat arrived, it's pretty much stopped - I think they don't like him), and I KNOW that he was there on that plane with me. Thanks again for reading!
