HOME ALONE
It was Summer and my parents & brother had gone away to Cornwall. Being about 16 - 17 I didn't want to go with them and stayed home with my friends.
Thats when strange things started happening, it was small things at first that seemed to just vanish into thin air - like a Ketchup bottle which just disapeared although I was sure I put it in the refrigerator. My friend and I would hear someone walking about upstairs.
TRAVIS
NOTE: As I started typing this story the song which I always associate with the dream and the feelings I get from it, Red Hot Chilli Pepper's "Under the Bridge" has just come on the radio.
As you may have read in my last posting "GHOST STORIES" - I myself and other people have had dreams about me being pregnant. Five people - my friend, her twin, her mother, possibly my mother - and the bassist from the band I work with - have all dreamt that I've been pregnant. The popular theme of all the dreams is that I'll have a baby but it won't be my choice. My cousin, (who was about 5 at the time), once asked my Grandmother "Does Charlotte have any children?" An innocent childish comment probably - but I was only about 14 at the time.
Anyway - usually in these dreams I'm alone, I'm pregnant and I'm always expecting to have a little boy. Always in all the dreams that I have about me being pregnant is that the child is called TRAVIS. His name never changes and its always set in Los Angeles - which is strange seeing as I've never been to LA and I can recognise roads and places from my dreams, even miscellanious details like a shop called "Porkey's" and even when I see LA on the Tv now - it seems like home.
FRIEND AT MY BEDSIDE
I was about 11-12 and it was a normal day like any other - I was just about to go to sleep when I heard my friends voice say, "It'll be all right soon" My eyes snapped open and I turned over, she was standing there right next to my bed wearing some brightly colored pyjama's, as soon as I saw her she faded away.
The next day at school my friend came upto me and she said that she had heard me whispering to her the night before, she couldn't make out what I was saying but she had heard my voice none the less. I told her about what had happened to me, even describing her pyjama's.
Even to this day I dont have an explanation for it - neither of us where in trouble or distressed in anyway. So what happened?
WARNING SOUNDS
I currently live with my Aunt in London and have had two accidents in her house. The first was when I got up and tripped and I fell into a table - badly bruising two of my fingers, the second was when I woke in the night and fell down the stairs and was concussed. Before each of these accidents I would hear a noise in the night coming from my Aunts room. It was the sound of someone muttering and banging cupboard doors, I can't quite explain the noise - but it wasn't nice, it was scary and I used to wish that it would go away. At first I thought it was my Aunt, but then I knew different when the noise occured just before I fell down the stairs and she wasn't even in.
I did some research on the house - my Aunt said that she moved in round about the 70's, before her it had been owned by a couple and before that it was owned by an old lady who died at the age of 98 - but she didn't die in the house.
However - my Great Grandmother who had Alzheimers lived there with my Aunt, she didn't die in the house but as I was the only Great Grandchild she ever knew - maybe she came back to warn me.
NOISES FROM THE WALLS
NOTE: While typing this Dirty Vegas "Ghosts" is on the radio.
My parents live in a cottage in the countryside which was built round about 1900. The village itself is a small hamlet but it has a lot of history in brief it was involved in the Suffragette movement, suffered heavy losses during WW1, (someone person from every house had lost someone) and has some connection with the Normans. There are two ghosts in the house - none of them unfriendly and one quite shy. The first ghost is of a child - I've never seen it and only sensed it once. I was asleep in bed one night and awoke to the sound of my door opening and shutting, (I can hear it open and for personal reasons I keep a small chime on it so that it makes a noise when it opens and shuts), small feet scampering across the floor and the covers dipping under the weight of something sitting on the end of my bed. The second ghost is of a woman wearing white who likes to check on people as they sleep, I one night half opened my eyes to see her lifting the mosquito net on my bed to look at me. They both seem to be quite shy - but occasionally the dogs do bark at nothing but quieten down when their told that it wont hurt them.
What wasn't nice was when I woke up in the middle of the night to hear the sound of a bird in my room. It was a heavy thick bird which sounded like a big pigeon. It woke me up with a flutter of wings and it sounded like it was above me, but in reality it was behind me and sounded like it was in the wall. I looked all around my room to see if a bird had flown in through my window - then it occured to me that the window was shut. I heard the sound for two nights -then that was it. My mom has also been awakened by the sound of someone or something crunching on the gravel outside on the drive like there was a person out there, the dogs where going mad barking and when she looked there was no one there. Living in such a rural area she thought it was a fox, badger or even a deer or something - and it probably was, but something about the way she said it when she told me about it - made me think otherwise.
Whatever is in the house isn't threatening - their quite shy and seem to be genuinely interested in whose living there.
Maybe they just want people to enjoy the house as much as they did.
Any comments, questions or if anyone can help with anything at all please feel free to e-mail me, I would love to hear from you :)
