Ghost Dog?

This happened when I was 13, I had a dog who was very ill, my dog was very fat and used to caugh. One day I came home and found out that my dog had died. I was very upset and I was crying. That night I couldn't sleep, but I managed to doze off. In the morning I could hear caughing and something running up and down the stairs. I went down stairs and asked my mom if she had heard the same thing, she also heard it, she said it was just the dog. We were very creeped out because we remembered that our dog had died. We hadn't heard it since, but sometimes hear caughing like our dog used to.
