Gate Demon

This happened to me when I was about 4 yrs. old.

My family and I had just moved from New Mexico to Midland, Texas. One night as I was laying in bed I was looking out of the window to the night sky. Being that we had just moved in my bedroom window did not have any blinds or curtains on it yet and I had an unobstructed view to the outside world. Anyway, I was looking out my window when I saw something run across the top of the fence; now keep in mind the fence I am talking about is the kind of privacy fence with 8ft. tall wooden stakes, these stakes are pointed on top and even though I have seen cats run in the same manner on fences like that. Whatever this thing was was not a cat. It moved way too fast. This thing changed course and I couldn't tell whether it jumped or simply ran down the side of the fence. No sooner than it had reached the ground than it was up on my windowsill(the distance from the fence to my windowsill is approximately 20yds.)this was instantaneous, the creature had the ability to move extremely fast. I am going to refer to this creature as a demon for 2 reasons

1. I am a Christian and I firmly believe that it was a demon.

2. This thing looked exactly like the small demons portrayed in the movie "The Gate"

This demon seemed to defy laws of physics in that anything that is moving extremely fast carries with it some momentum and when it stops abruptly sort of sways a bit. This thing didn't it simply stopped. Even though this thing was obviously malevolent I was not yet afraid. This demon then sort of peered in the window at me and it seemed like it took a second before it could see me kinda like there was a glare on the outside of the window that kept it from seeing me at first. When it finally did see me it kinda cocked it's head like a dog does when they don't understand what is going on. That is when I got scared. It grimaced in this extremely evil grin and sort of waved/beckoned to me. I was trying to scream but I couldn't work up any kind of voice. The terror was too great.

Finally, I was able to make a little noise that sounded like a parched bullfrog that was barely audible. At that point the demon shook with laughter but made no noise. This seemed to release something inside me and I was able to scream for my mother as loud as I could. When I did this it stopped laughing and looked me in the eyes waggling it's finger back and forth in a kinda UH-UH-UH motion. I heard my mom getting out of bed and stalking down the hall. I don't know if it was the uncoordination of being half asleep or the irritation of being abruptly awoken. The demon evidently heard this too but was not in the least bit concerned. It just stood there staring me in the eyes and waiting. Finally my mom reached my door, opened it, and turned on the light. All I could do was stammer and point out my window, but of course the damned thing was gone. My mom said I had a bad dream, and told me to go back to sleep.

Which I reluctantly did. I awoke the next morning thinking I had dreamed the whole thing. So I asked my mom if I woke her up last night. She said yes, that I had had a bad dream. I was somewhat unnerved but still considered it to be a bad dream. However, when I went out to investigate around my windowsill; at first I found nothing, no footprints, or any evidence of any kind. Relieved that it was only a dream I began to turn around, and as I did I noticed a glint out of the corner of my eye. On closer examination I noticed scratches in the glass of my window that looked just like the scratches from a miniature clawed hand. My stomach dropped and my blood ran cold. I knew it was real. To this day I have had many paranormal experiences including two more run ins with demons however both of these were of a spiritual body and had no corporeal substance that I could detect. Several other experiences of different natures occured in that same house. Though I have yet to see a demon of that kind again. Thank the Lord. Also I described the demon as the same kind of demon in the movie "The Gate" but I feel it important to say that at that time I had not seen the movie and although I am not sure, this probably occurred before the movie was made.(This took place in early 1985) If you have seen the same creature or something similar please contact me at DCguru@hotmail.com
