Me and my friend have always LOVED ghost movies - watching them on DVD, going to the cinema to see them, freaking ourselves out late at night. I even became convinced there was a ghost in my house.

Things never got serious until one night, when I was at my friend's house for a sleepover. We slept in a tent in her garden, with a TV plugged in through the back door so we could watch ghost movies. We had just finished watching The Amityville Horror and we had to wait for my friend's dad to come back with our next rental DVD, so we resorted to reading magazines for a while. It wasn't long until I found a true-life article about a girl who was at a nightclub when she tried using an ouija board. I showed it to my friend and she got really jazzed about it all, so we agreed to try using a home-made one that night.

We didn't really pay attention to the next movie - instead we went online and found out how to make an ouija board. I was getting a little nervous, so I checked out some sites explaining the dangers, but my friend assured me it would be safe.

We waited until midnight, because we'd read that it's more likely to get a response during the witching-hour. We set out the board on the floor of the tent - we were both super creeped out because of how dark it was - and got ready to begin. We both put our fingers on the board and waited. Then my friend asked if there were any spirits in the garden around her house. The pointer moved to no, and me and my friend both swore we didn't move it, because we were really hoping for a yes. But then the pointer moved to yes, then back to no, then back to yes again.

Me and my friend both felt shivers (we talked about what we had experienced afterwards), and then the little bedside lamp gave out and went off. We were plunged in to darkness and I got so scared I felt sick. Then there was a scraping sound against the side of the tent fabric, and me and my friend started screaming our heads off. After that someone started to pull the tent zipper down, but only halfway. We never got to see their face, whoever it was.

It finished with the pointer moving around our home-made board to spell out 'E-N-O-U-G-H'. Me and my friend ripped the board up and buried it in the back garden. We've never tried one since then and I get terrified at the smallest things. The other day I got a chain email saying a ghost would kill me in the night if I didn't send it on. Noises in the night terrify now, and I want to hide whenever I'm alone in the house.

I always feel like someone's behind me, watching me and breathing down my neck, and who knows? They might be. Ouija boards are terrifying - and after my experience I read some articles about true encounters, and some people have had the boards tell them that they're going to die or be hurt.

I'll never try one again, and my friend won't either. Ouija boards are dangerous, and if you ever decide to use one, B-E W-A-R-N-E-D.
