Im 16 years old and already i have had a few paranormal encounters, however this story isnt about me - it's about my mum.
When my mum was younger she lived in quite a small house with her mum, dad, brother and sister. They got fed up of living in such a small place and so they decided to move, the only thing is they lived in a nice neighbourhood with family nearby and my mum had friends there, so they would be leaving behind a place they loved. Luckily enough a house (much bigger than their own) was for sale and it was only up the road, they bought the house and began to move things from the old house up to the new one.
One day my mum was with her friend and as her toys were in the new house she asked her mum if she could go with her friend to play in the new house. Her mum agreed but warned her to lock up afterwards, so my mum and her friend (both were about 10 at the time) got on their bikes and headed off to the house which was only about 5 minutes away. When they got there my mum jumped off her bike and looked up at her new home but something caught her eye in one of the upstairs windows. There was an old lady in a grey dress with a broach attached to her chest and her dark hair was tied back into a bun. She had a sharp face that looked very serious and almost angry.
My mum threw her bike and whilst screaming ran down the road to where her uncle lived. She told him what had happened and so worryingly (as no one was supposed to be in the house) he went back and searched everywhere but there was no one there and nothing to suggest anyone had been there. The front door was locked and the door to the upstairs room the figure had been in was closed, nothing disturbed, so with no evidence my mum couldnt prove anything. My mums uncle told her she was seeing things and told her to stop being silly, so my mum went into her room with her friend and they laughed it off thinking how silly they had been.
My uncle left and as soon as he closed the door they could hear things in the house. They tried to tell each other that they were overreacting until they heard something or someone walking by my mums bedroom door (the door to the room they were in) my mum shakily went to open the door. Her friend squealed and begged her not to open it as she was petrified of 'the woman' being there, but my mum opened it and nothing was there. Feeling brave my mum and her friend decided to face their fears and search the house themselves, firstly they checked the room the figure was in, which would soon be the bedroom for my grandparents (my mums parents) as soon as they walked in they gasped. A big clump of hair was burning in the fireplace. - the fireplace wasnt on when they checked it with my mums uncle and my mum had been with her friend the whole time they were there, so there was no one else to start a fire! my mum biked back home with her friend crying all the way and told her parents what had happened.
They never went back until they officially moved in. My grandparents werent too sure if they had imagined everything and so they continued with the move (which i wouldnt have done!) they had moved in for a while and nothing else had happened so my mum looked like she and her friend had made it up. However a few weeks after moving in, they had found out from a neighbour that some woman had died in the living room after taking ill. Her bedroom was the same bedroom my grandparents moved into but as she got ill she couldnt get upstairs and so she had to sleep downstairs. The neighbour showed a picture of what she looked like and the lady in the window looked the same as the lady in the picture- my mum couldnt believe it! At least my grandparents believed he. My mum would never stay in the house without a adult EVER again!
