I partially grew up on my old family farm in Eastland Texas. There was a rock crusher located on the adjoining property and many sections of woods on the other side. The Leon river ran though it and we spent many years hunting that area. As we grew older we began to hunt deeper in the woods. One morning myself and a cousin decided to quail hunt by the river, that is when we were surprised and in shock at what happened next. As we chased some quail,a medium size bush began to shake and thrash around violently. We couldnt believe what we were seeing. It was as though a huge man was shaking the bush. It would stop and then start again. We both emptyed our 12 gauge shotguns all around and into it. It continued till we just left.

About a week later we were hunting on the other side of creek and we could hear something following us in the leaves and trees behind us. We had walked for approximately 4 miles being followed the whole trip, we hunted but never was able to see one thing.

Once I was hunting upon the ridge above the rock crusher and no one was in that area or anyone working as it was sunday. As I climbed to the top of the hill there was a piece of steak just laying in the road, as though it was just taken out of a wrapper. I looked all over and no one but me was in the whole area. To this day none of these things have been explained, but when I go back to the farm from time to time, all my old folks long dead and gone, I look at those woods, wondering about its past. There was a tribe of commanche indians that lived on that area of property for many years in the 1800's, unsure if that is a result of burial grounds or what. I guess I may never know. Hundreds of arrow heads have been discovered, but the darkness and erieeness of that place, still remains today!
