Please feel free to email me if you want to tell me your ghost story or want to talk to me about what you think of my story. :)

My grandparents house (on my fathers side) has been known to be haunted since at least the early 1970's. The previous owners that sold the house to my grandparents willingly gave it up. The male of the young couple complaining that "His wife kept having a lot of strange things happening to her in the house and she begged him to move."

since they moved into the house in 1977, my grandparents have experienced "shadow people" or black figures, electronics turning on and off all by themselves, (especially TV's and radios)cameras going off and taking white, vortex like pictures by themselves, mysterious voices coming from downstairs when everyone is in bed asleep for many hours, writing from "beyond the grave" (He :) :D ) on the kitchen table, etc.

My own twin cousins used to talk of a white female apparition that would watch them while rocking in a rocking chair when playing in the playroom. This was from when they were 3 years old till they were about 12.

Anyway, here's what happened in October 2008 one night when I had not stayed overnight since I was about six years old, nearly 7 years earlier:

Again, since it was my first night sleeping over since about 2001, I was nervous. Back then, I was scared of perhaps seeing a ghost. I didn't want to sleep in a room by myself.

My grandfather offered to go sleep in the guest room, while me and my grandmother sleep in the two twin beds in the master bedroom. I went to sleep quickly, and peacefully.

I woke up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason what-so-ever. (Don't ask because I don't know why myself even 2 years later! LOL.) I stretched, sat up, and was for some reason perplexed to look at the bedroom door.

(Call it stupid or pointless habit or not, for some reason I can't stand sleeping with a door open. It just bothers me. I ALWAYS sleep with my bedroom door fully shut.)

So I noticed that the master bedroom door was about a foot open. (The house settles and the door doesn't shut all the way.)

After noticing it, about 10 seconds later I saw a white glowing foot appear at the top of the staircase. Followed by the entire leg, than the whole body of the figure.

Here's what she looked like:

The white, glowing apparition was not transparent or see threw like other ghost stories I have heard. She was almost like...well a cloud! A upright, female outline.

She was ALL white. She had no clothing color, hair color, nothing. But I could see the outline of her hair that went to the center of her back, her dress that went down to her ankles, her arms loosely hanging at her side, and her small petite like waist. It was defiantly a woman. Even her movements were graceful and feminine.

She was standing sideways, looking down the hallway, were my grandfather was sleeping.

I starred at her, and she finally realized that someone was watching her.

Believe me or not, but I saw her head move sideways. Her neck slowly moved to the side to look me right in the eye.

Thats when I noticed she had no face. It was nearly flat. No eyes, nose, mouth, nothing at all.

About 8-10 seconds wen’t by with us starring at each other. Both of us barely moving a muscle. Then, she quickly faded into a white mist and floated into the room next door. (I call this room the “Twin’s Room” because its where my cousins old toys and all my childhood memories of drawings, dress up clothes, and doll houses are stored.)

Then, I remember I lay down, and in less than a minute I remember everything wen’t black. I was asleep.

Now, your probably thinking that this story is a big joke. Why would this young teenage girl have this bizarre experience and not be frightened out of her mind? And why would she have calmly fallen back to sleep?! Impossible!

These are all the looks I get every time I share this story.

To answer all the questions above:

Let me ask YOU a question reader, because I don’t understand...

Why are people frightened of life after death? Ghosts were live human beings at one time. So to me thats like there saying they are traumatized and scared out of there mind of a once alive stranger? To me thats crazy! In that case, people would drop dead every time they turn around and see a complete stranger walking across the road or taking a morning jogging down the street!

Most ghosts CANT physically hurt you! (I say MOST because some people confused demonic like hauntings as “ghosts” and if you ask a professional ghost hunter they would tell you the same. DEMONS and GHOSTS are two totally different things. Demons are spirits that were never born, never truly alive. Ghosts are the spirits of deceased people who can not pass on or have unfinished business.)

Think about this whenever you think or HAVE seen a ghost.

Do you know why I fell back asleep so quickly? Well, I will have to answer this question with another question...

When someone introduces you to a charming, pleasant, and kind looking stranger, are you afraid of them? You know how some people give off a pleasant atmosphere if they have a warm, loving, and caring personality? Well, thats exactly what this white apparition had.

This woman figure was not threatening. She actually seemed more scared of being discovered than I was of her at the time.

Now that the story is over, I want to tell you who I truly think the ghost is using history records and old newspaper articles...

A unmarried woman named Miss Florence Agnes Nelson once lived in my grandparents house for over 20 years until her death in 1954. She was born in February of 1868, and died in Waterville, Maine at her winter home in 1954. She died of a illness that she had been suffering with for many weeks.

She was famous of Brettun’s Village for being a excellent teacher and a brilliant naturalist-studying and collecting natural artifacts for her whole life and even turning her own home into a mini museum with over 100 different collections on display! She wrote and published her own book called “Lest We Forget” which talks about how growing up in the early 1900‘s was like. Socializing, school, family life, and even food and differences in seasons. She taught school for over 20 years at the one room school house 2 buildings before her house, which is know called the Livermore Public Library. When this school house became a library as time wen’t on, Miss Nelson became one of the first librarians of it!

(I have a library card for this building and the current librarians and desk secretaries also mentioned this information! Miss Nelson had in fact sat at that very spot where this current secretary sat now! Writing in front of the brick fireplace probably sorting out forms and other information!)

Besides her fascination for nature, Miss Nelson also was a very kind, loving, and sweet old lady that many adored and loved. Children loved her, though she never had any children of her own. She was never known to have married, or even date.

I noticed, like she had also seemed alive, that the ghost in my grandparents house seems to be more apparent and attracted to woman or other female occupants. Did something very tragic, or cruel happen to Miss Nelson that involved a man? Did a man brake her heart? Cheat on her? Abuse her? Leave her alone when she needed help most? Or maybe she was betrayed by a man that hurt her for the rest of her life.

Whatever it is, I think the spirit seems less comfortable around men. She has never revealed herself to any males as far as we know, so... maybe that is the case?

I think, even more as I get more clues, that Miss Florence Agnes Nelson is indeed the ghost that is haunting the house. It all makes sense to me. A lonely woman who spent her lifetime collecting her favorite hobby, teaching the children she loved, joining the nature clubs she adored, and now she doesn’t want to leave her home.

R.I.P Miss Nelson!
