Interview with Sonia Wilson, Paranormal Experiencer
Interviewed by Paul Dale Roberts, HPI General Manager

Question: I have investigated over 400 cases and your case of a haunting in Citrus Heights is very intriguing. Can you tell me how long you have lived in this home and how old is your home?

Answer: Our home was built in 1949. We closed escrow on May 31, 1994.

Question: When you first moved into your home, when did you realize it was haunted?

Answer: My husband began remodeling the home before we actually moved in and it took him about 30 days to complete the remodel. During that time, we were still renting a duplex in another part of town and we didnt officially move in until the remodel was complete. So my husband, during the late nights, was laying hardwood floors and rewiring the entire house, he felt that he was not alone in that house. He is not one for flights of fancy and he is not any way superstitious, but he told me how he felt that someone was watching him. The hairs on the back of his neck kept standing up. The lights continuously flickered and sometimes went out, but he chalked it up to the fact that it was an old house. Never mind that he just rewired the entire building! Things got weirder when we finally moved in completely. Pictures kept being removed from the walls but the nail in the wall and the wire on the back of the picture was still there. My daughter who was 15 months old seemed to carry on conversations with someone who wasnt there. I would close her bedroom door and window and go back to check on her during her nap and the door and window would be open. She was too little to have accomplished that feat on her own.

Question: Do you know of the history of your home or about the land that your home is built on?

Answer: Our house runs alongside an undeveloped acreage of land that is owned by SMUD and is called by the locals, The Greenbelt. According to the elders who live around us, this used to be Native American land and a few decades ago, you could successfully go hunting for arrowheads and other Native American artifacts in that area. Its also evident that a tributary from the River ran through there because when my husband built a small fence around our vegetable garden in the back yard, we hit an air pocket about four feet down from the surface of the soil and discovered a bed of smooth polished river rock below.

Question: Can you briefly explain some of the paranormal activity at your home?

Answer: After my daughter started speaking to someone who was not there and the windows and door of her room wouldnt stay shut, I invited a friend from Oregon over to visit. I did not tell her anything about what was going on so as not to scare her. Within one day of her visit, she admitted to me that she felt that she was not alone, even when I left to run an errand and left her to care for my daughter. She said she kept seeing someone out of the corner of her eye. She told me that the image that she kept seeing out of the corner of her eye was a bearded man in a Civil war uniform. She said he gave her the creeps and she ended up sleeping with our dog in the guest room that night and each night thereafter. A month later I invited another friend from L.A. to come visit and see our new home and within a few hours of her visit she told me the same exact thing that my friend from Oregon had told me, only this time she saw a little girl as well as a man in uniform.

Question: How many people live in your home? Has everyone experienced activity?

Answer: Four people live in my home: me, my husband and two daughters. My husband refuses to accept it was the result of ghosts or spirits. He is a true skeptic. My daughter is the one who took the picture of her girlfriend with 2 designer orbs nearby, one orb has a very distinct face.

Question: What was the most scariest moment?

Answer: After my friend from L.A. left, I invited my sister from L.A. for a visit and one evening when we were in the kitchen talking, my dog was under our glass kitchen table and he began to growl and we could actually see her hackles stand up. Her growls got louder and she appeared to be looking up when the glass table literally imploded into a thousand pieces sending my dog yelping and running for cover. Nothing was touching the table and nothing was dropped on it so how or why it chose to implode at that moment was anyones guess. I just knew that I had to do something to put an end to this stuff. I contacted my sister who got in touch with a Wicca Priestess and I also contacted my local Priest and consulted him as well. I decided to perform a cleansing throughout the house.

Question: When your husband was remodeling the house, do you believe this was the cause of the increased activity?

Answer: Hard to say: I dont know what the activity level was before we bought the house. I have heard though, that spirits dont care for people disrupting things in their digs.

Question: After the cleansing, is the house now normal?

Answer: I still sometimes feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up on occasion or notice some movement out of the corner of my eye or sometimes the blinds will sway even if there is no discernable breeze or draft to cause them to sway and then of course theres the picture of the spirits that was taken in my kitchen years after I did the cleansing so I guess Id have to say that we still have some spirits but not ones who are mischievous or destructive, blessed be!

Question: You are also a poet and painter, can you explain?

Answer: Runs in the family. I am currently working on several projects at once: A colleague of mine wrote some childrens poems that he would like me to illustrate for him, and I have a couple of childrens books that include my own poetry and original stories that I am writing and illustrating as well, that are in the works.

Question: Do you have any words of wisdom for your readers? Again, thank you for this great interview!

Answer: Dont let the fear take a hold of you. If you find yourself in a similar situation, there are things you can do to cleanse your home of negative energies. Even if you cant get rid of all of the spirits, you can at least put a stop to the mischief with the cleansing ritual and sleep better at night.
