These are a series of occurences which have occured to family friends starting in the late 70s at a home they built along the Loup River in Boelus, Ne.

They moved to some property in the late 70s and lived in a rustic tar paperish sort of shack which was on the property that was years beyond its age. More of a run down hunting cabin which the folks their said a crazy old goat man used to live in for many years. As they lived there for a year or more they found some tombstones which they used as rocks for the firepit. This may have disrupted something but to this day i think they remain there at the camp.

In any event, they moved a trailer home there and began living in it closer up the half mile long single track driveway and the shack became the area we referred to as the camp.

Misfortune soon followed when their youngest daughter froze to death one winter when she wandered outside and got tangled up in the dog's chain.

After a few years of trailer living, they started building a foundation and moved an old house from somewhere to rest on the constructed foundation. Immediately after moving in the new/"old" house they encountered various paranormal activities.

Firstly, they had the old style cookie/flour tins of different sizes on their kitchen counter when all of a sudden all the lids came off the tins and burst trough the dining room and smacked the living room wall completely across the house over 40feet.

Next, the mother was awaken late one evening to a shadow over her and the TV set on. Thinking her husband was back from the night shift early she talked to it. And closed her eyes to rest again. Instantly she then realized she was laying back in bed looking straight up. The TV set then went off and the shadow was gone.

Finally, They had another daughter in later years and the mother was washing dishes in the same kitchen and she got a feelings to run to the river right now. Their home was less then 100 feet from the Loup river and she ran up and through the shelter of trees to just see their daughter falling into the swollen ice melted river. She got there in time and saved her from being swept out and drowning.

Now these were the stories as i was told while growing up with their eldest daughter. The parents family were my parents best friends so we spent alot of time their at the old camp and their other homes. I always was skeptical about the stories and i found out they were more then likely true one night when me and the eldest daughter were babysitting my younger sis and her younger brother back in the early 80s in their house once it was built and the other occurences happened.

This is where my story begins:

We were playing Atari and all of us were in the bed room off of the kitchen. Her folks were gone for a late evening and i locked the doors when they left, door knob, deadbolts and the chain. We began talking about the stuff that happened, as i wanted to scare the younger siblings as a 12ish something brother does. I soon stated i don't beleve in ghosts and taunted what ever to show its self and prove it. We kinda left it at that and then went back to playing Atari again.

A short time went by and in the bedroom doorway their black cat meowed at us. We thought this odd and she reminded me their cats are outside cats and it must have got in when her parents left. I got up to put it out and rounded the corner into the kitchen and i found the doorway i had locked tight was standing wide open. This scared the heck out of me and i was terrified to even go near the door. I called out to the eldest daughter and she said i told you shouldn't have taunted it. I got enough adrenaline to throw out the cat and slam the door shut and lock it all over again.

Now i believe in ghosts and hauntings. It took my own stupid fashion to find out.

As i grew older I have lost most contact with the family because i live away now but my folks still are friends with them. I haven't heard of any new events but the mother still believes in the guardian spirit/angel which sent her out to save her daughter but i believe it to be a haunting with all the activities. Another idea they had was they possibly could have multiple hauntings from all the history of the property...like old goat man and the tombstones in the firepit....The old house they moved in may have a spirit angered by the house move to the new location.

I just found the website and read a few stories, so i decided to share mine. Feel free to comment about other thoughts or similar encounters
