Missing Letters

I was 13 years old and it was the first time in months that I'd actually taken my parents advice and properly cleaned my bedroom. By the end of the day the room was perfeclty tidy, but consequently ended up looking a little bare, so I decided to decorate my walls. Instead of throwing up chaotic pictures, photos and posters, I settled for writing the message “Peace & Love” with artistic calligraphy on individual pieces of paper and sticking them to the wall opposite my bed.
The next day I came home from school to find that every piece of paper had been ripped from my wall and scattered about my bedroom floor. Confused, I asked my parents if they had done it. Both denied, and of course I believed them. I mean, honestly, why would either of them do such a thing? But unfortunately this left me with an unsolved mystery and I'd just exhausted all two possible suspects. I went back upstairs to clean up the new mess, only to find that three letters were missing. P, E and L. Unable to find the letters anywhere, I threw the others away and soon forgot about it.
The next week I came home from school again and found the missing letters back in my bedroom, this time pasted on my wall in a neat diaginal line. “PLE”
A little shook up, I asked my parents once again if they were responsoble. They weren't. I took the three letters down from my wall and threw them out as well.
