The Malesus School Screams

I was in 2nd or 3rd grade-it's been so long ago, and the only thing I can remember is what I'm about to tell you from that day. Memory is interesting because anything that holds significance gets imprinted there forever.
The Malesus school playground had/has a front and back playground we could play all over on. The teachers would sit toward the front and the middle to keep an eye out on the 2-3 classes playing at the same time. I was doing my favorite pastime of swinging on the back playground. I became tired of that, and jumped off, and was standing in the middle of the open area of the back playground. I turned around to go somewhere else, and imprinting happened..
I saw about 10-15 ft from the edge of the back playground a heavy set, colored woman in a long, plain, clean, pressed, blue dress with a full skirt, and long sleeves with a white apron on. She was moving back and forth quickly, but the movement was like watching a really old movie we've all seen on the history channel or some sort of documentary, among the slightly overgrown saplings.
I could see her very smooth, dark working hands. She was bending over, walking back and forth between the sink and the stove, using her apron to wipe her hands, invisble pot and pans, and countertops. She prepared the food and placed in a baking pan, turned around, opened the oven door, and placed the food in the oven. I watched as she cooked and cleaned in an invisible kitchen, but her head was invisible too.
My attention eventually focused back to my swinging buddy as if to say, "Are you seeing what I am seeing?" and my face a few minutes before must have looked exactly as hers, and then her focus changed to me, and we looked again to see if we were actually seeing what we thought we were seeing. Three to four more children had stopped in the transition of play, and our focus slowly transfered to them, who reflected back to both of us our reflections of each other, and then there were lots more children, and that's when we all heard our reactions of "The Malesus School Screams."
I wonder if the teachers were able to see through all the children or to see at all what was seen because they did stand up from their position in the middle of the front and back playgrounds to get control of the pandemonium. I've heard that adults cannot actually see, but children can. I wonder about the sights seen through the teachers' eyes that day...I wonder did they see the woman with the invisible head or was it all invisible to them?
