Dark Figure in Doorway

To start I would like to say I am generally very sceptical of anything deemed to be paranormal. I am not religious and always look to find the most logical explanation for a strange situation. This experience however, stands out as I can think of no logical explanation.
I was messing around on the computer in my living room and decided to retire to bed as it was one in the morning. My girlfriend and dog were already asleep in the bedroom.
I switched off the lights and walked to the bedroom, there was just enough light to see where I was walking. I approached the bed room door and stopped dead when I saw a dark figure in front of me, approximately one metre away. I'm 6 feet tall, the figure stood around one foot taller than me. My first thought was to drop into a fighting stance as it may be a robber, however, this is not what happened.
For some reason I just stood there and suddenly felt very relaxed. After a about 10 seconds I waved my arm in a wide arc in front of me to see if there was indeed something there. My arm went straight through the figure (no abnormal feeling) and reached the end of its arc, the lamp on the other side of the room turned on by itself, my hand was pointing straight at it. In front of me there was no figure, simply a white wall on the other side of the room, where a shadow could have been cast from I could not determine. My girlfriend was fast asleep and my dog simply laying on the bed looking at me as if to ask why i'm just standing there in the doorway.
I distinctly remember waking up and seeing such a figure standing at the end of my bed on two seperate occasions when I was younger, but thought nothing of it as it was most likely to be my imagination.
Everything i've stated is 100% true, I have better things to do than post lies on the internet. Feel free to contact me if you've had similar experiences as I am genuinely curious.
