One time, as we were taking a yearly trip up to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia, we didn't go to the place we usually do, and some really creepy things happened.

First, the lady down in the Lodge was telling us about how there were burial mounds up by the cabins. Immediately, I felt chills, and went to look at some candy with my sister. The lady looked- I don't know, just really creepy, wide-eyed, really long, black hair. She had these snakes in a jar on the Lodge Store counter, I remember. When I walked up to them, They began twisting around a stick, and looked right at me. I decided to go back with my sister.

Later, We went up to the cabin we had rented. It was dinnertime, and so my mom told me to get a pot from the cupboard in the cabin kitchen. When I looked in the cupboard, a dank, moldy smell wafted out. The pot I had grasped looked faintly green. As I am usually distracted by alot of things, I looked at it for a few minutes. My mom asked me loudly if I had found a pot, to break me from my state, and I said yes, but I looked at the pot again, and it was no longer green.

After we ate, we were sitting by the fireplace, and my little sister was dancing around loudly and being silly. All of a sudden it got really cold, and my teeth started chattering. My sister looked at me weird, and when I told her I was freezing, she said 'no way, we're right by the fire'.

So, the next day, we were going to go hiking, and at the time I had the ending stage of Mononucleosis. I was the last one in the cabin, and as I was getting my bag, I swear I felt a breeze go by and heard someone whisper something, like, 'go....'. Just then, my dad walked in and yelled at me to come on. Way up on the hill we were hiking, there was this huge, black cave. I felt the presence of something lurking in the shadows. I was extremely weak at that point of my illness, and was very frightened. If my dad wouldn't have caught me, I would have fallen to my death.

Later that night, we all went to bed, and I was feeling increasingly uncomfortable, but I slept exceedingly peacefully. The next morning, our mom seemed very disturbed, like she had seen something very frighteneing. We kept asking her what was wrong, but she just hurried us out to the car with all our stuff and told my dad to drive to the Lodge so he could tell the Lady we were leaving. Our mom was really scared, rocking back and forth and shaking. Finally, we got it out of her.

She said she had a dream that a maid was in the cabin bedroom when she walked in, folding sheets. The maid's back was turned. Mom said it looked like a Native American woman, and the woman's black hair was in a braid. They had a conversation, and the women said less and less each time. Finally, she said nothing for a long time. Then, she began saying something barely audible, in a whisper. The woman continued to say it louder under her breath. Then, my mother says she could discern what was being said, though it was still barely able to be heard. 'get out.... get out.... get out...'My mother recalls saying 'I'm sorry?' and things like 'Pardon?' and the woman just said it louder. Suddenly, the woman whipped around, but was no longer black-haired and young. The now-elderly woman screamed at my mother 'GEEEEEEEEEET OOOOOOOOOOUUUUUT!!!!!!'.

Though my mother only saw her for an instant, she says the woman had grey, scraggly hair, loosed from the tight braid, and an old, wrinkled, decrepit face, dirty and rotting, as if she had been exumed. The woman's eyes were glistening and black. My mother has been afraid to go back there ever again. She says she thinks the cabin was built over a burial mound, and we were disturbing the peace. Just to think that I had been sleeping, unawares, over the graves of deceased and wary beings... I hope to never have an experience such as that again.
