Just Nightmares or Something More?

This is a bit of a wierd one. During my time at college my friends and I used to take trips out at night time in my friend's car, just to get a late-night McDonalds and for the fun of the ride down country lanes in the dark. One time me and my two friends (embarrasingly) felt like scaring ourselves, so we drove around Tilehurst looking for spooky-looking places.

We stopped at a church and dared each other to run through the graveyard and touch the church gates, walked through some misty cornfields that looked remarkably similar to those in 'Signs', and then drove up to an abandoned farmhouse. It was very spooky looking, especially in the dark so we got out to have a closer look. We were aware that gypsies lived in the area so kept quiet, and I spotted an old rusty waterwheel in a cage next to the farmhouse. I peered in and saw nothing immediately, but after starring for long enough I thought I could see the outline of a man crouching in the cage, waist deep in water. I was convinced it was my imagination but walked speedily back to the car non-the less.

Once we were all back in the car and driving down the driveway my friend in the front thought he saw a shadow jumping into the bush by the side of the drive; we laughed but he sped up anyway. All the way back to the village we had a strange sensation of someone following us.

The weird part is that in several of my dreams the crouching man appeared, although his eyes visible. It sounds pathetic and not scary atall but I get a very horrible sensation whenever I have that dream, it's a terrible feeling that I'm relieved to wake up from.
