Hello, this is a story about my mother and her grandmother, who is my great grandmother. My great grandmother died in her home of cancer when she was ninety-six years old. Her grandchildren took turns taking care of her the last four days of her happy life. On the day my mother took care of her she noticed the flowery fragrance of the lotion the nurse gave them to put on Grandma's skin. She remembered how nice it smelled.
The night before my Great Grandmother's funeral, my mom and other family members were pasting pictures of her on the memory boards. It was midnight and everyone else had left, but my mother; she was still pasting the pictures and thinking of Grandma, when suddenly, she smelled the strong sent of the lotion. She was confused, so she smelled both of her hands, but didn't remember putting any lotion on, so she got up and walked into the kitchen and sniffed, but the scent wasn't there; she walked back into the living room where she smelled it again. "Grandma?" she said, then the smell disappeared in an instant, leaving my mother confused and bewildered.
Now my mother thinks that was just Grandma Sally saying goodbye........... and thank you.
