A Cursed Gift

I never appreciated my experiences growing up as a child with the supernatural world. I have read a ton of books about something I still really don't have a full understanding of. I've only come to the conclusion that there is a real danger when dealing with a realm that contains demons and ghosts. I think back to these experiences and lament i had ever had these chance meetings.

The first experiences I can recall are appliances turning of and on. I had a T.V in my room with a nintendo at the age of 11 and this set would inexplicably change to scrambled channels. One night the T.V turned on full volume around 2 or 3am on a scrambled channel waking me up, but no one else in my house. Often i would be the first one home from school before (my brother, sister, and parents) and i would constantly hear my name being called out from the basement. It was a really really deep scruffy voice which occured months apart, but always when i was alone. I seriously thought i was going insane (which isn't a good feeling), but these occurances were strange if not scary at the time.

One night i woke up to go to the washroom and saw a little figure half my size huddled in a corner beside my parents door at the end of the hallway...I was the youngest so this didn't make sense...i thought a cousin was staying over (I tried to explain to myself) and reached out to touch it...it didn't move, but looked frightened. Thinking i was seeing things i just stood there and watched it for half a minute before turning around and turning the lights on...surpise...nothing was there...but i turned off the lights to see if it was a trick of the light....the figure was gone.

I've always had gaps in the times of paranormal occurances so i'll tell you of my recent exploites with "the dead" or Demons if you will.

There is a house on the edge of a cul de sac where i live by the outskirts of west end Edmonton. There used to live an old couple who eventually consisted of a poor old widow living by herself. Her husband died a few summers before. She used to drive a bus and a semi truck and would wave at everyone who walked by. Two years later she died leaving an empty house. I walked by that lonely house a million times after i got off the bus, but one day when the house was all dark, i saw a scraggly old woman. She looked incredibly haggard just staring out of her window, her penetrating gaze lingering on me with every step I took. I've worked at a nursing home with old people and they don't frighten me, but i felt chilled to the bone as i walked past this woman that should have been dead. It took about 6 or 10 seconds to turn the corner, but her eyes followed me with every step i took. Those seconds felt like minutes as i walked by. I couldn't understand what she wanted, but i was frightned beyond everything i've ever felt. Like she was draining my very spirit. A week later i cabbed home and talked with the driver who confirmed to me that his parent in laws used to live in that house. This old woman (his mother in law) died days before i saw her same image staring at me from her window.

Other spine tingling events happened as i visited my girlfriend's mothers grave site. We strolled through the park until dusk fell and we turned to visit a site designated to fallen soldiers from WWII. Past this we stopped at these urns, reading names. There was this small pillar which housed these urns and was closed off...like small locked shelves holding the ashes of the deceased. I remember what i did that creeped the hell outta both my girlfriend and I. I knocked on the door to one of the cubbies, and guess what??...it knocked back. I could actually hear a tap..tapping of someone or something from inside this box that could barely fit a shoe inside. So i thought, maybe something or animal is caught..but something of intelligence was definetly inside..because i knocked twice again....and "it" responded back with two or three knocks...i didn't stick around to find out what hell it was. Oh and one more recent but not so scary event happened too.

My girlfriend and i were driving down this highway once and we could hear music coming from inside my trunk...WTF?!...my trunk was empty!!! i really do wish i could be completely alone sometimes..but heck...misery loves company!
