People use to say that many children can see ghosts until a certain age. I don't know whether it's true or not, if they really see things and etc, but most people would say that children see spirits because they are still pure and do not fear paranormal things. People say the same about animals too, of course I'm not comparing children to animals, but the fact is that adults tend to not see paranormal things or have paranormal experiences much often like children do; and also that animals can feel evil presences and warn their owners when these see or note nothing strange happening.

The fact is that I know a little girl called Carol that once puzzled everyone. She is about 8 years old now; but when she was only 3, she was a very smart and beautiful child. Her aunt, my dear friend Rosane who had a paranormal experience I told about in this website ( read Edgar and Rosane from March 2007); used to pick her up at a Day-care Center everyday after work because Carol's parents worked overtime most days and Rosane was living with them by that time.

Carol never shown us any psychological problems for not having her parents all the time, she was actually very smart and independent for her age, she was always cute and loved to play with me and Rosane, and was never afraid of anything, not even the dark.

But at one special day, Rosane took her at the Day-care center but kept talking with the teacher and a friend of hers at the door while holding Carol's hand. When Rosane tried to move to get away, Carol was just freezed at the floor and didn't move. When Rosane looked at her, Carol was looking inside the classroom, specifically to the front right corner of the roof. She had her eyes and mouth wide open, paralyzed and scared like she was looking at something very frightening, but Rosane and no one else could see anything where Carol was staring too. So they all got puzzled with the child. Rosane then called the child's name and Carol just squeezed her and said: "I wanna go home, I wanna go home!" screaming and crying a lot!

Rosane could not get any more words from Carol all the way home, the child was just crying and didn't want to speak. When Rosane got home with the child, it took her about more than 1 hour to calm the child down so she could ask what happened that freakened Carol out that much. The only words Carol could say were: I saw a monster!!

We just don't know what did Carol see, if that was a monster, a demon, a ghost, but she surely saw something at her classroom roof that was scary enough to make her get desperate and at age 3, she was not able to describe it better than a "monster". We tried to ask her for more details afterwards but she always got so stressed that we just gave up to not bother her anymore.

We also thought that her behavior would have come from any problem she might have had with a playmate or the teacher at the day-care center, and that was her way to tell us she had a problem. We actually interviewed the little child asking her if she had or were having any problems with her teachers or playmates at the day-care center, which she calmly denied.

We asked her if the teacher was mean of shouted on her or if she was having any fights with the other kids, this kind of problem may cause the children to get disturbed and invent monsters and other frightenings, but for Carol it was not the case, she gently denied and was always happy to go to the center.

She was not relutant or afraid to go there the next day and never spoke about any monsters anymore. Rosane even asked her if she had seen that again, and she just denied. We never thought that Carol was inventing stories, maybe she really saw something scary?
