Who Turned the TV On?

While visiting my sister who lives in amsterdam, i had a rather strange experience. The house is rather small so everytime i visit i end up sleeping on a couch-bed in the sitting room. One night as i was sleeping, i suddenly woke up and then i turned my head towards the TV and it suddenly turned on! The next day i asked my sister if it was supposed to tape something on a certain channel, if it was prescheduled for a program or so, my sister said no. 2 things are mind boggling here, why did i wake up and look at the TV and feel it would turn on? Why did it turn on?
