My Best Friend

In 2002, I lived and worked in College Station, TX. I had a best friend that I worked with named Lisa. One day we were hanging out and she told me that she was having an affair with a married man. She was supposed to meet him out of town the next day. She was asking me if she should go or not; she was really having reservations about going. I told her that it was her decision and I would support her either way.

Well, she decided to go. On the way to meet him, she was in a fatal car accident and was in a coma for a week. I went to visit her, but she never woke up. My other friend and me were very distraught about her death, and we couldn't even go to her funeral. (it was out of state).

The day after her funeral, I was sleeping and had a realistic dream where her and I were talking. I asked her if she was really dead and she said yes. I also asked her what it was like and she said that she didn't have much time to talk. She said that she just wanted to let me know that she was ok and we shouldn't be sad anymore.

After I woke up, I was at peace. I didn't feel any sadness and I knew that I would see Lisa again someday. I don't know if it was really her talking to me or just a dream, but I know that it helped me move on with my life and I thank God for that.
