Great Aunt Pearl
From: Rhonda (rj_harris1@yahoo.com) Story type: Ghost Location: Southern Illinois Source: Form Submission
When I was a child of approximately 8 years old, I lived with my grandmother in a two story house. My bedroom was upstairs, as was my brothers room. As usual, I climbed the stairs that led to my bedroom as I had done every night before. My dreams soon turned into a nightmare.
I drempt that I was asleep on the couch downstairs in the livingroom. A knock came at the front door. (Grandma used to lock the door and the screen door.) I woke up and went to the door. I opened the front door, and there was an elderly lady, without a body, just a head floating in front of the screen door. She kept saying, "let me in, I'm your Aunt Pearl." I screamed "No!" I slammed the door, and ran to the couch and covered my head.
The next morning I woke up and remembered the nightmare. Then I realized, that I was on the couch in the livingroom! That scared me even more and made me a little curious. I asked my Grandma, "Who is Aunt Pearl?" She said, "That's your Great Aunt, I never told you about her. How did you know about your Aunt Pearl? I haven't seen her for years."
Later that afternoon, the phone rang. It
was someone in our family that I only saw in family reunions. My Great
Aunt Bertha. She was calling to inform Grandma that her sister Pearl
had passed away that night. We never spoke about the incident again.
