My angel story began with my father facing a life-threatening medical emergency. Dad had been in the hospital for over two weeks with a rare and deadly blood infection and was in such critical condition that the doctors warned the family that there was "nothing more medically" they could do for him. We were advised to "prepare ourselves for the worst."

Reacting to the shock that her husband of 39 years could pass at any moment, my Mom went into a deep depression that culminated in her losing her fears in sleep. The same evening we were given the warning from the doctor, I accompanied my mother home and stayed awake in the living room in case the phone rang with bad news. About 3:30 in the morning I finally began to doze off (sitting upright in Dad's chair) when a firm, yet loving, male voice startled me out of my near-sleep. "Diana, your father is going to be fine," the voice said from a location somewhere behind me and to the left . . . So real and clear was the voice that I looked for it's source with full expectation that someone from my parent's church had come into the house to deliver the good news.

Of course, no one was there! Less than two minutes later, I heard the same voice (this time coming from my mother's bedroom) say, "Your husband will live." My mother called out in bewilderment, "what, who's there??" When asked what she heard, she related the words I had heard spoken to her.

When we went to the hospital for our visit that morning, Dad was awake and more alert than he had been since his hospitalization. His eyes grew huge as he told us excitedly of his encounter that very morning with his angels. He told us that the angels had given him the choice to come with them or stay, he chose to stay. From that moment on, Dad's health improved and he became the "miracle child" of the hospital ICU ward...today (four years later) we are blessed to still enjoy his presence, heralded by the angel who delivered the joyful news.
