The Disappearing Noose

I was around eleven or twelve (the summer of 2001) and I had just
moved to Blacksburg. My neighborhood was home to several members of the
KKK--however, I didn't know that when I moved here. After I had made a
few friends, we started hanging out around the woods behind my house.
They told me about burnings that the KKK used to have in the woods. At
first, I didn't really believe them, I had just met them, after all.
One of the members (back in the late sixties) owned a property a mile
away from me--but you could access it from the trail in the woods
behind my house. He had a corn field (which has long since been dried
up) and a barn. My friends and I wanted to check it out because--as
neighborhood legend had it, a black man was hung in the barn and haunts
it. We made our way through it, and started hearing strange sounds
(much like a baby crying--but bobcats also sound the same). We made it
to the barn and looked through the window. The sun was shining through
and hit the loft in the barn. A shadow that looked like a noose was on
the ground, but there was no noose on the ceiling, or any rope to be
found. We went inside and a huge orb floated towards us and we fell
down. I thought that it was just the sunlight, but it consumed us, and
the sunlight was only shining on the loft, and we weren't in the loft.
We ran back to my house and went back the next day. The shadow noose
wasn't there, but we didn't stay to check it out...
