The Demon Child
From: Eve (evejackson@mail.com) Story type: Ghost Location: Norman, OK Source: Form Submission
Hi, I'm a college student from Oklahoma. I personally haven't had
any direct or obvious incidents with ghosts until I met a friend who
had. Her name is Shannon and she lives alone in a house in Norman. She
to is a college student but she comes from a family of minor jewelers.
She doesn't have much money to speak of so she is renting to own a
house in Norman while she is going to college.
She said it all started with her dog. He's a small dog like a
shiatsu or something similar. When she first moved in she tried putting
her dog's dish at the corner of the counter in the kitchen. The dog
wouldn't eat for almost four days. He would sit about 5 feet away from
the dish and just stare at it. Well, not really at it. More like 3 feet
above it. She finally moved the dish so the dog would eat.
A few weeks later her Mom came over to visit and she had brought a
new jar of jewelry cleaner for Shannon and set it on the corner of the
counter. They then went to a local shopping area and returned a few
hours later. Her dog was sitting were he had the first few days just
staring. The cleaner was all over the counter. They looked at the jar
and there was no cracks and the shrink plastic on the cap was still
intact. There wasn't even any cleaner in or on the jar itself. They
thought it was strange but didn't really think much of it.
Later she set up her coffee maker in the same spot not thinking.
Several weeks later she turned it on in the morning and left to take
her shower. When she came back the coffee was all over the counter and
none on the coffee maker or the mug. And again her dog was just sitting
there staring.
Several months went by and she didn't think any more of the things.
She even came to school and joked about it with us. But we could tell
it really unnerved her.
One night she was lying in bed and she couldn't get to sleep. She
couldn't get comfortable because we all had a big test the next day.
She rolled over as she had several times that night and she glanced at
her door. There in the dark hovered two red eyes. They were about 3
feet above the ground. Shannon froze and squeezed her eyes shut and
rolled back over. Needless to say she did do to well on the test the
next day. The next time it happened Shannon could tell it was a little
girl. She stood there pale and sickly in a white gown. Though she
didn't seem weak in the least bit. Shannon said she got not necessarily
a bad feeling but it also wasn't a good one. The girl wore like what
seemed like a sleeping gown from the 1920's or so. She also had the red
glowing eyes.
It happened again several weeks later. This time the girl had her
hand on the doorjamb.
Each time she seemed to get closer and closer. Shannon eventually
started to wear a sleep mask so when she put it on she wouldn't see
anything.
She eventually forgot about it until about a year later. She came to
school looking unkempt and messy. She is always very polished and
refined but not today. She told us about what had happed that morning.
The fall semester had just begun and the days were still very long. She
had left her bedroom and walked into the sun light hall. At the end she
could look right into her kitchen and right at the corner of the
counter. There in the light of the morning stood the little girl. And
there sat her little dog staring at the girl. The girl had her hand
placed on the very corner of the counter.
Shannon didn't even bother showering. After classes she went
shopping and bought several crosses, one for each room, and several
bottles of holy water. She hung the crosses that same day. Everything
seemed to stop for about a year then every single cross was gone. In
their place were ghost images left of them where they had once hung.
She went on a short trip a few months ago and several of us were
house sitting. Only Jen was supposed to be there but she didn't have
the courage to stay there alone. Two days had passed and nothing
happened. We where sitting in the living room that night right next to
the kitchen when Tom turned to the kitchen and just stared. He was pale
and his eyes were huge. Jen and I didn't want to turn and look but we
did. There stood the girl and there sat the dog. Instantly we were up
and moving. We grabbed the dog and left. I don't think we even locked
the door. We only went to grab the mail and newspapers. We never went
back into the house. In fact none of us has been back ever since.
That was 6 months ago. She still lives there. For the life of me I
don't know why.
